Get ready to immerse yourself in the vibrancy and joy of music and art at the highly anticipated inaugural Rhythm & Roots festival in Lewiston, NY, on July 20, 2024. This free, open-air event from Cannabuff promises an unforgettable day-long celebration of music, art and culture, headlined by the legendary Jamaican ska and reggae pioneers, The Skatalites.
Formed in 1964, The Skatalites are widely regarded as one of the most influential and iconic bands in the history of Jamaican music. Their unique blend of ska, rocksteady, and reggae has inspired countless artists and left an indelible mark on the global music scene. With a career spanning over six decades, The Skatalites continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their infectious rhythms and impeccable musicianship.
Joining The Skatalites on the main stage is a stellar lineup of local and regional talent, including Neville Francis and the Riddim Posse, led by the esteemed singer-songwriter and guitarist Neville Francis. Born in St. Thomas, Jamaica, Francis was an original member of The Sattalites, one of Canada’s most famous Reggae ensembles, and has been the driving force in the Western New York reggae scene for decades. Rounding out the music, there will also be performances by Grub, Olmsted Dub System and Tonemah.
Accompanying the musical extravaganza will include a glass-blowing presentation by resident artists at Skyworld Gallery and live-art demonstrations from local artists selected by Eat Off Art. Eat Off Art, a collaborative of Artists, Educators and Entrepreneurs working to build a more empathetic community in WNY, will be participating in the inaugural 2024 Lewiston Rhythm & Roots Festival as a sponsor, curating a transformative arts engagement accessible to guests from the community to complement the musical live performances.
Attendees can expect to explore original art, indulge in delectable culinary offerings from Gallo Coal Fire Kitchen, view vendor spaces, and mingle with like-minded individuals in a festive and welcoming environment.

A Roots-Based Music Lineup + Art and Culture Experience
The stage will feature diverse musicians and bands throughout the day selected to showcase an array of talent featuring local, regional, and national acts. Beyond the music, Rhythm & Roots will offer immersive atmosphere, including a live art demonstration from local artists, designed to capture the spirit of the event.
