U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents seized more than $5 million worth of marijuana at the Peace Bridge on Wednesday (October 20th). The agents noticed something awry when a commercial truck carrying “bathroom vanities” didn’t pass their initial inspections. When agents examined the cargo, they found more than 2,000 packages filled with marijuana.
The estimated street value of the drugs is $5 million. In the last year alone, more than 10,000lbs of marijuana – worth over $24 million – has been seized at the Port of Buffalo. Buffalo remains a major port of entry for illicit cannabis entering the United States, despite New York State legalizing cannabis for adult use early this year.
